Our customers work with us because we supply a wide range of carefully selected combinable crop species and varieties which have been bred by world-leading plant scientists and extensively field-tested. We sell a wide variety of wheat, barley, oats, beans and triticale including spring beans, spring barley and spring wheat.
We only multiply seed varieties with careful consideration for regional suitability, rotation, market outlets and suitability to regenerative farming practices, meaning our customers have the most advanced, vigorous and marketable product available.
Group 1 Wheats
Crusoe
Crusoe is a well-established group 1 variety on the recommended list, it boasts the highest protein content of any other variety currently on the list. The good lodging resistance and all-around disease package against Septoria tritici, mildew, and yellow rust make this a competitive variety for the
premium milling sector.
Edelmann
Edelmann is bred by expert Austrian plant breeder Edelhoff, the breeder of Evelina, Ehogold, Elego and Elias. Delivering quality and yield, it has tall straw and good disease resistance. We have buy-back contracts available for the variety which offers an attractive premium over feed wheats.
Ehogold
Ehogold winter wheat is an organically bred variety from Austria, capable of achieving the best milling quality available. This variety is around 20% lower yielding when compared to UK conventionally bred material but the grain quality achieved with this variety is superb. Extremely tall and with the appearance of a heritage wheat, it’s extremely early to mature. Milling contracts are available which offer a premium over other varieties.
KWS Zyatt
KWS Zyatt winter wheat is an exciting, new group 1 variety with high untreated yields making it a true dual variety, suited to the milling and feed market. It performs well in the second wheat slot and performs well in all regions of the UK, on all types of soil. However it does prefer heavier land. It is a short, stiff variety which is early to mature.
KWS Zyatt performed well in our own organic trials and came 2nd behind Dunston in terms of yield, mirroring that of the Recommended List untreated trials.
Nelson Winter Wheat
This high gluten, high quality winter wheat variety has strong untreated yield potential and a wide drilling window that runs from September to February.
Skyfall
Skyfall wheat is a group 1 bread making variety that is currently the UK’s number one. This is down to its consistent performance for both farmer and miller. The winter wheat also has strong fusarium and OWBM resistance and a flexible drilling window. Skyfall wheat is a short stiff-strawed variety and relatively early to mature.
Group 2 Wheats
KWS Extase
KWS Extase is an exciting new group 2 bread making variety with an excellent combination of high yields, quality potential and disease resistance. With a hagberg and specific weight of 297 and 78.4 respectively, combined with a yellow rust rating of 9 and brown rust rating of 7 plus an 8.1 rating for septoria tritici.
KWS Palladium
KWS Palladium is an exciting early maturing, brand-new group 2 wheat designed for the UK bread markets”. This variety has shown an exceptional untreated yield and scores very highly against Septoria, Mildew, Yellow Rust, and eyespot”. Palladium is great for earlier drilling due to the early maturing characteristics.
Mayflower
Mayflower Winter Wheat is a group 2 variety with a high untreated yield and exceptional Septoria Tritici resistance score of 8.4, the highest on the list. For those growers looking for a low input variety, should certainly look at Mayflower as either a group 2 or feed option.
Group 3 Wheats
Bamford
A Group 3 variety with treated yields as good if not better than all the Soft Group 4 varieties and also high untreated yields. It’s yield as a 2nd wheat is also joint highest of any of the soft wheats. It has a good disease package with excellent grain quality, high specific weight, Hagberg and good protein content. It has full approval for biscuit making and provisional approval for distilling and export.
KWS Brium
KWS Brium is a group 3 variety for UK flour, biscuit, and distilling. It currently sits at the top of the group 3’s on the recommended list. One of Brium key attributes is the ability to be flexible due to it being a later drilled and later maturing variety. It also has excellent yellow rust scores and is OWBM resistant.
LG Astronomer
LG Astronomer is a quality soft milling wheat, it is high yielding, has good disease resistance, and has a high specific weight. As a biscuit variety, it will also meet the requirement for distilling.
Soft Group 4 Wheats
LG Skyscraper
LG Skyscraper is a high yielding soft group 4 winter wheat. It has a robust resistance profile for OWBM, Septoria tritici, and Yellow Rust. This variety is taller strawed and can offer distilling
RAGT Bairstow
RGT Bairstow is new on the recommended list this year. The variety is strong against Septoria and OWBM. It has been marked down as positive for distilling. It would make a great choice for second wheat.
Hard Group 4 Wheats
Champion
Champion is now the highest-yielding feed wheat (Group 4) (106.3%).
It is the top variety drilled on heavy soils and second on light soils, which shows its versatility and suitability to a wide range of sites. It has a medium-length straw, with very little lodging seen over five years of trials in the UK.
It boasts some of the best scores for yellow rust and Septoria on the RL and also offers growers orange wheat blossom midge resistance. With outstanding overall yield performance – Champion has proven itself to be a successful late-drilled variety with the highest scores on the list when planted in a late-drilled situation. The latest safe sowing date is mid-February.
Gleam
Gleam is a very high yielding hard group 4 feed wheat; it has excellent overall disease profile with outstanding untreated yields as well as OWBM resistance. It produces strong straws and this is a product of its excellent resistance to lodging. Gleam is early to mature with robust HFN and offers farmers flexibility in terms of drilling requirements.
Graham
Graham winter wheat, bred by Syngenta has proven popular both organically and conventionally for its disease resistance, especially to Septoria. It is a medium height variety with good resistance to lodging and early maturity. Graham winter wheat performs well as a 1st wheat and on heavy soils.
LG Typhoon
LG Typhoon is a hard feed wheat offering a good yield potential around a very secure agronomic package. The variety offers security and adaptability regarding drilling date and rotation, performing well in both the earlier drilling situation and as a second wheat.
It has an excellent disease resistance profile offering high scores for resistance to yellow rust and septoria tritici in combination with OWBM resistance
Spring Wheats
Everlong Spring Wheat
The perfect choice for growers looking for a late autumn drilled wheat or a true spring wheat, looking to supply the feed market. A group 4 feed wheat, and the highest yielding spring wheat on the 2024 AHDB Recommended List.
KWS Harsum
New for growers this spring is KWS Harsum, the highest yielding Group 1 breadmaking wheat on the 2024/25 RL. KWS Harsum has a high specific weight with good protein levels and Hagberg Falling Number. KWS Harsum is Orange Wheat Blossom Midge resistant.
KWS Ladum
KWS Ladum is the highest yielding group 1 spring wheat on the RL list. It consists of a good disease package, which includes an 8 for Mildew and a 7 for Septoria. It has a good specific weight of 78kg/hl.
Mulika
A consistent and reliable milling variety which delivers good proteins, hagbergs and specific weights. Very similar to Paragons milling capabilities. According to this year’s Recommended List, Mulika offers good resistance to Yellow Rust and Brown Rust. Mulika is also Orange Blossom Midge resistance.
