The demand for limiting reliance on imports and increasing homegrown protein is increasing and we have winter beans which are suited to the UK climate available.
Both organic and conventional spring and winter beans are available. Please get in touch for more details or to place an order.
Conventional
Organic
A high yielding consistent favourite. Fully Recommended, it has high standing power, and has the pale hilum demanded by export markets.
Conventional
High resistance to downy mildew with a strong standing, Lynx is a good variety to consider and especially popular for those in the West of the UK and Ireland.
Conventional
Organic
A new Low vicine and convicine type which sits at the top of the list for yield, while offering the earliest ripening of any other listed variety. Good standing and good mildew resistance.
Conventional
Honey is the earliest maturing, shortest variety on the PGRO Recommended List with very stiff straw. The combination of excellent standing ability and early maturity makes Honey ideally suited to higher fertility and moisture production areas and also the North and West of the UK.
Honey produces large, attractive seed suitable for the export market.
Conventional
Organic
Listed in 2014, Tundra Winter Beans are becoming the established winter bean variety taking 69% of the market. Tundra offers a yield advantage of 5% over Wizard according to the latest PGRO list. It is an early ripening variety with straw length and standing power similar to Wizard. Having a pale hilum colour, this makes it highly suited for export. Tundra has a coloured flower and is a high tannin type bean.
Conventional
Vespa is on the PGRO Recommended List 2020 as the highest yielding variety, with yields that are 5% higher than other varieties on the market.
With a large seed size, improved standing ability and short, stiff straw, Vespa has a large grain and pale hilum that makes it suitable for both export and animal feed markets.
An excellent variety to consider.
Conventional
Vincent is a new winter bean, producing very high yields. A later maturing pale hilum variety, Vincent has taller but stiff straw and good standing ability at harvest. Its outstanding features include a very high yield and exceptional seed size and high protein content. Vincent should prove very popular for both feed and export markets.
