Meet Taylor, our new assistant variety rep

Taylor Moore has joined the Cope Seeds team on an extended placement. He’s been with us over the summer and he’s so good, we’re keeping him on for a full-time placement as our assistant variety rep to manage an important R&D project.

With a background rooted in agriculture and an endless interest in innovative, sustainable farming techniques, he brings plenty of out of the box thinking and enthusiasm to the team as assistant variety rep.

“I’ve helped out on the family farm, based on the Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire border, from a young age,” says Taylor. “I’m more involved with the decision making now, but it isn’t quite big enough to support me with an income, and I’ve always known I’d need to find a farming-related job that I’d be just as passionate about.”

Taylor went away to the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester to get a degree in agricultural management and is now working for Cope Seeds on a full-time research project.

“The project is looking specifically at a spring wheat variety, which, when added to a poultry feed ration, can enhance the Lutein levels in eggs.”

Lutein helps to improve eye health in humans and Taylor is working on compiling research and development showing that this spring wheat can be beneficial to humans.

“It’s an exciting project to be involved with and Cope Seeds is a fantastic company to work with. It’s family run and very innovative and works with leading breeders, growers and sustainable markets, meaning the team really knows its stuff,” adds Taylor.
